Question: Some people believe that stricter punishment is the only way to reduce driving offences and improve safety on the roads. To what extend do agree or disagree with this statement巴东二中?
It is commonly believed that more stringent punishment is the only method to cut down driving offences and improve road safety. I largely agree with this viewpoint隆诗吧 , but also believe that there may be other indirect methods for the same as well.

On the one hand谢若林 , stricter punishment is the only approach of instilling fear of breaking road safety rules amongst individuals. In other words, severe punishment would lead to citizens being aware of the consequences of their actions, and refrain from breaking road rules and drive safely. For example闵妃 , Australia faced many incidents of drinking and driving resulting in several accidents and injuries amongst its public in the past. To overcome the issue, the Australian government enforced immediate arrest and prison time as the punishment for drinking and driving decreasing these incidents to minimal almost immediately, as drivers across the country became scared of going to jail.
